Karen E. Wilczewski
Top Dog Communications
Veteran communications professional with a successful track record in writing, editing, desktop publishing and publication management.
As the owner of Top Dog Communications, Karen Wilczewski grew up in a family where her mother spoke 7 languages and her dad spoke 2. The only language her parents had in common was English. Coming from a family with so many language skills, Karen felt it was her legacy to know English as well as possible. She loves words. Friends threaten not to play Scrabble or other word games with her, because she has an amazing command of the English language.
Karen came up with her company’s name, Top Dog Communications, as a result of working with a life coach. Top Dog came directly out of Karen. She wanted to provide high quality work with a bit of whimsy. Her thinking was, “If you can’t have fun doing what you love, it’s not worth doing.” And, Karen always pictured the dog wearing a top hat!
One day, Karen walked into her local Post Office and saw a birthday card on a rack. The front of the card featured a large white rescue dog wearing a top hat. She had to purchase that card and use it as the inspiration for her logo. Then when she came up with her tagline, “We capture your tale,” the dog’s tail had to be featured in the logo.
While Karen loves all animals, she actually has three kitties. If you’re a cat person, you know that feline pet parents lovingly refer to their cats, irrespective of age, as “kitties.” They keep her company as she works late at night and they naturally remind her to take breaks to feed them.
